RNLI Boxing Day Dip – Southend – 26 December 2015

Swimmers braved the cold waters of the Thames Estuary to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution charity as this traditional winter ‘dip’ returned after a break of many years. Swimmers weren’t put off by the water temperature – estimated to be around six degrees – running straight in to the sea at the Jubilee Beach location. The entry fee (paid to the RNLI) included a reviving hot drink and mince pie on leaving the water. Many swimmers sported festive fancy dress.


First Santa in the City Run – London -6 December 2015

Santa in the City is one of London’s newest Santa Runs – there are a number of such events taking place in the build up to Christmas – with hundreds of runners dressed in traditional red Santa suits taking to this new 5k course with its start and finish outside City Hall. The route took runners over Tower Bridge and around the Tower of London, sometimes mixing up with visiting tourists. The event raised large sums for charity.
